The purpose of H.R. 6 (The American Dream and Promise Act) is to provide permanent status to minors brought illegally to the US (Dreamers) and recipients of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) and Deferred Enforced Departure (DED). H.R. 6 passed in the House of Representatives on June 4 and will be introduced in the Senate shortly.

Dear Senator Feinstein,

I want to thank you for your continued support of a path to legal residence for many undocumented immigrants. As a Jewish community, we recognize our duty to welcome the stranger, as is commanded to us in the Torah. This duty necessitates that we engage in immigration reform. We feel a sense of urgency to ensure that this group of undocumented immigrants remain in the United States as legal residents.

We look forward to the Senate passing the equivalent of The American Dream and Promise Act, the bipartisan bill to support Dreamers and TPS/DED recipients which passes in the House this week. Members of these communities are valid contributors in American society in every sense and are deserving of legal status. We ask you to urge your colleagues in the Senate to take up the American Dream and Promise Act and pledge to work together to extend the blessings of the American Dream to all. With your help, we can uplift the most vulnerable among us and truly welcome the stranger.

Thank you,
