In response to California Senator Alex Padilla forcibly removed from a Kristi Noem news conference in Los Angeles on Thursday, the Jewish Center for Justice has issued the following statement:

The Jewish Center for Justice is outraged by the violent treatment of California Senator Alex Padilla, who was wrestled to the ground and handcuffed by federal agents while questioning DHS Secretary Kristi Noem at a Los Angeles press conference.

Senator Padilla identified himself clearly—as a sitting U.S. Senator representing the very state where this happened. His warning rings loud: “If this is how the administration responds to a Senator with a question, you can only imagine what they’re doing to farmworkers, cooks, and day laborers throughout the country.”

This was not an isolated act. It reflects a dangerous pattern of escalation—where immigrants, documented and undocumented alike, are being profiled and rounded up indiscriminately.
