In response to President Trump’s address to Congress, the Jewish Center for Justice issued the following statement:
“Last night’s address from Donald Trump was filled with falsehoods and demeaning rhetoric, too many to cover in full. Rather than fact-checking every misleading statement, we are focusing on two key issues that fall within our mission and policy priorities: immigration and the overall tone of his speech.
“On immigration, Trump continues to spread misinformation and outright falsehoods. His claims that towns like Aurora, Colorado, and Springfield, Ohio, have been ‘destroyed’ by immigration are not only baseless but part of a long-running effort to demonize immigrant communities. This rhetoric is dangerous, divisive, and an affront to the very fabric of this country. A real, bipartisan conversation on immigration is necessary—but fearmongering and scapegoating immigrants undermine American values.
“On his tone, while we have come to expect divisiveness, we refuse to normalize it. The president of the United States should lead all Americans, yet Trump continues to govern as if he represents only red states. His words last night reinforced division rather than unity—something our country cannot afford.
“As we move forward, JCJ remains committed to calling out harmful rhetoric while advocating for solutions rooted in justice, inclusion, and truth. We will not be distracted, and we will not back down.”
