In response to President Trump’s recent implementation of sweeping tariffs—including a 10% baseline on all imports and a 17% tariff specifically on Israeli goods—the Jewish Center for Justice issued the following statement:
“The Jewish Center for Justice strongly condemns the reckless and unnecessary tariffs imposed by the Trump administration, which threaten to destabilize the economy and disproportionately harm working families. These policies will drive up the cost of essentials like food, clothing, and housing, deepening the financial burden on those already struggling to make ends meet.
“Particularly concerning is the 17% tariff on Israeli imports, which comes at a time when Israel’s economy is still reeling from the October 7 attacks. As a progressive justice organization and proud Zionists, we oppose these tariffs unequivocally. They endanger critical sectors such as tech, defense, and medicine, while undermining the U.S.-Israel alliance at a moment when solidarity is vital.
“This agenda is more than poor economic policy—it is a direct attack on innovation, equity, and international cooperation. We urge leaders across the political spectrum to reject these harmful measures and instead pursue policies that foster shared prosperity and global stability.
“JCJ remains steadfast in our commitment to speak out against injustice, both at home and abroad.”
