JCJ Fellows responded to the horrific anti-LGBTQ bills going through the Texas and Florida State Legislatures by compiling a list of orgs to help provide legal, emotional, and financial resources for LGBTQ youth and their families.
Texas
- The Transgender Education Network of Texas is a non-profit fighting for equality for transgender students / youth. Contact: info@transtexas.org
- Equality Texas is another organization that is fighting for equality for LGBTQ+ people and youth in Texas. It is both a political advocacy nonprofit and an advocacy foundation. Contact: Info@EqualityTexas.org
- The Dallas Hope Center is the only homeless shelter for LGBTQ individuals in Dallas, and is run by The Dallas Hope Center Charities. Contact: hope@dallashopecharities.org
4. Resource Center is a Dallas-based organization that helps LGBTQ+ youth by organizing social programs, helping to build self-esteem, and providing mental health support. Contact: 214-521-5124
Florida:
- PRISM is an organization that provides LGBTQ+ youth with education and support. Contact: info@prismfl.org
- The Orlando Youth Alliance is a support group for LGBTQ+ teens in Orlando. Contact: info@orlandoyouthalliance.org
- The Zebra Coalition provides economic and mental health support to LGBTQ+ youth. Contact: info@zebrayouth.org
